Machinery manufacturers fearful for 2009
27/07/2009
Federmacchine, the parent organisation of the National Association of Italian Manufacturers of Footwear, Leathergoods, Tannery Machines and Accessories (Assomac), held its annual assembly recently.
The organisation’s president, Alberto Sacchi, said his members had reported that, after a pretty stable 2008, 2009 was proving to be a “very worrying” year. He blamed a lack of clear and decisive government support for business such as those making tanning machinery as one of the main contributors to this concern.
The associations that make up Federmacchine together achieved sales of EUR 19.7 billion in 2008, a 2.7% rise on the year before.
