Exports can grow if companies stick to the rules

Pakistan's former ambassador to the Netherlands, Sibte Yahya Naqvi, has told the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FPCCI) that producers of leather and leathergoods in the Asian country could easily increase their share of European Union (EU) markets by making sure they meet required regulatory standards.

He said the organisation should take responsibility for educating Pakistani producers on EU standards and helping them meet all requirements. He added that Pakistan should set up a new institute to offer training on these matters to exporters. If companies there became more expert in EU trade regulations, the country could expect to see the volume of its exports increase significantly, Mr Naqvi said.
