Leather-loving chocolate firm tipped for the top

Patchi, a Lebanese chain of luxury chocolate boutiques with a penchant for using leather in its packaging, has featured in a list of five food and drink brands that brand consultants Wolff Olins has tipped for global stardom by 2015.

Last December, Patchi launched the world's most expensive box of chocolates: 49 sweets hand-wrapped in soft suede in a leather and silk box. Each chocolate was adorned with either a 24-carat gold flower and Swarovsky crystal or a handcrafted, miniature silk rose. The chocolates went on sale exclusively in the Harrods department store in London at a price of £5,000 per box.

Wolff Olins has said that new global brands are more likely to come from emerging economic regions, including the Middle East, Asia and Latin America, than from the US or Europe.
