White House denies handbag claim

A claim from Rome-based high-end fashion house VBH that US First Lady, Michelle Obama, took its expensive black clutch bag on a recent official visit to Russia has met with denials from the White House.
VBH said Mrs Obama appeared on television and in photographs holding a black, handmade manila bag in alligator leather, which it manufactures in Florence. The bag carries a retail price of almost $6,000.
The White House responded by confirming that the First Lady had used a VBH bag on the day in question, but insisted it was a much cheaper version, one costing nearer $900.
