Leather for first ladies’ jackets

08/07/2009

Italian firm Clothing Company made special-edition jackets under the name of its Belstaff brand for the G8 summit in L’Aquila from July 8–10.

Company owner, Manuele Malenotti, told the world’s press that he had prepared made-to-measure jackets in cotton for each government leader, bearing the Italian flag and the signature of host president, Silvio Berlusconi, for each of the government leaders taking part.

However, he pointed out that jackets he had made for the presidents’ wives were made from leather instead. Versions of the jackets will go on sale to the public at a later date, with a proportion of any profit going towards the rebuilding of the host city, which was hit by earthquake in April.
