Sri Lankan leather exports fall
According to Sri Lanka customs, the country exported leather, leathergoods and footwear worth $38.3 million in 2008 compared with $40.8 million in 2007, a decline of 6.1%.
Official figures show its leather and leathergoods exports totalled $16.7 million and footwear worth 21.6 million in 2008 compared with $16.8 million and $24 million, respectively, in 2007.
Sri Lanka's total exports for 2008 totalled $8.1 billion compared with $7.6 billion in 2007, a rise of 8.8%.
