Emmezeta introduces new toggling machine
Italian machinery developer and manufacturer Emmezeta says its new MACH range of toggling machinery has been successfully used by many leather producers.
The company claims the machinery brings about a significant quality upgrade as well as yield gain when re-humidified crust is passed once or twice through the process.
The MACH system’s construction is based upon that of a horizontal throughfeed toggle drier but it differs greatly in the treatment of the leather in the conditioning tunnel. After toggling, the leather is exposed on stretching frames to a low temperature of 50ºC to 60ºC with high air circulation for about 30 minutes. At the end of the process, the leather is evenly smoothed, pleats and blowing disappear and pores are opened. The leather is then at the ideal point for the application of pigments. The operation can be repeated between finishing coats to enhance adhesion.
Toggling is manual but programming and control of the machine is PLC managed and uses touch-screen technology. Average throughput capacity is 100 pieces per hour, depending on the machine size.
