Gemata presents throughfeed dyeing system
In recent years, various leather machinery companies have experimented with throughfeed immersion dyeing machinery development. Until recently, attempts to produce a successful system had proved largely ineffective.
However, a few weeks back, Italy-based leather finishing equipment manufacturer Gemata presented a working model of an innovative version of such a machine as part of their Open House event, which took place at its plant. It has developed a complex system of immersion and squeezing with satisfactory results.
The company tested 0.8mm, 2.8mm and 1.2mm animal and bovine natural crust that is normally used in drum dyeing and, according to the company, the samples exhibited uniformity in dyeing as well as penetration. The system is said to be able to accept leathers in a range of substances.
Using the technique means that the problems associated with drum dyeing in batches are removed and chemical consumption is reduced.
