DADF revises import certifcates
09/06/2009
From May 31, the department of animal husbandry, dairying and fisheries (DADF), part of the Indian agriculture ministry, is allowing imports of raw and pickled hides and skins into India providing a no objection certificate (NOC) has been granted by the Animal Quarantine Stations at Chennai, Kolkata, Delhi or Mumbai against the submission of a veterinary certificate. The veterinary certificate must be in an acceptable format for DADF and must be signed by the government veterinary authority from the supplier’s country.
The DADF has slightly altered the prescribed format of the veterinary certificate, having deletion the first condition under the sanitary information clause, which stated that: “the skins and hides have been obtained from the animals, which were slaughtered in the country of origin".
