Raw material prices boost sole leather

Reports from Turkey suggest that many tanneries producing double-face and garment-nappa manufacturing tanneries are either lowering their production capacities or closing down.

However tanners specialising in the production of sole leather, who are mainly located in the Denizli cluster in the south-west of the country, are increasing their capacities. Sources in Turkey have said that the main reason for this is that raw material prices for these tanners have come down in price.

As a result, these tanners are now looking at increased export opportunities in addition to serving the domestic market. For example, Urganci in Denizli has started selling its sole leather to India, Egypt and Syria.
