Rolls-Royce to recruit leatherworkers

Rolls-Royce Motor Cars has created 150 new manufacturing jobs at its factory in Goodwood, in the south of England, raising the total workforce to 900.
The BBC reported that many of the new recruits will work on an assembly line, but others will be skilled artisans who will work on leather and wood components for the latest model, the Rolls-Royce Ghost.
“This is good news for the UK car industry at a time when it is struggling,” said Rolls-Royce chief Tom Purves. “We will fill all positions within the next few months, drawing on the considerable pool of highly skilled automotive industry personnel available in the UK.”
He said the Ghost had enjoyed “an extremely positive international response” and that his company, part of the BMW Group, now needed to put people in place to bring the car to market. Production will start in the autumn and the Ghost will go on sale at the start of next year.
