Leather-bound Emerson first edition on sale

A sale on May 30 and 31 at Maine-based auction house Thomaston Place Auction Galleries will include a leather-bound first edition of the collected poems of US poet Ralph Waldo Emerson.
The book, ‘Emerson’s Collected Poems’, dates from 1847 and was presented by the poet himself to Scottish historian and essayist Thomas Carlyle.
It includes Carlyle’s library stamp and an inscription from Emerson.
