A team of archeologists has found a needle dating from the Protodynastic Period of Egypt (3200 BC - 3000 BC), which may have been used to sew hides and skins.
The article, made from bone, came to light during a dig at the Faiyum Oasis, south of Cairo. Team leader, Jaled Saad, said he thought the needle offered proof that there was already at that time a tradition of leathercraft involving sewing pieces of tanned hide together.
