Clariant announces trends for autumn-winter 2010–2011

Clariant’s leather business unit has launched a new shades-and-trends report for the autumn-winter 2010-2011 fashion season.
It highlights four stylish themes: Go West, Lakeland, Locomotive and Modern Sculpture.
Go West reflects the rugged outdoor life of cowboys and ranch-hands of the old Wild West with golden saddlery browns, cactus greens and blanket reds, which Clariant describes as being “full of winter warmth”.
Lakeland is inspired by wild nature from the windswept hills and stormy skies. Colours such as lichen gold and foxglove mauve accent the moody blue cast palette.
From the feeling of nature, the next group, Locomotive, plunges into the dust and smoke of early steam-train rides with dusty winter neutrals, travel-worn effects, soft pinks, greens and browns.
Modern Sculpture, a play of light and shadow on contemporary art sculptures, gives rise to pairs of sharp brights and harmonising darks. Crisp black and white add a modern edge.
The specialist chemical supplier has put together colour recipes to allow tanners to use its dyes and pigments to produce leathers in colours that are in keeping with each theme.
