Four Year 2 BSc Materials Technology (Leather) students from The University of Northampton received £1600 from the Dr Dorothy Jordan Lloyd Memorial Trust to attend one of the APLF event in Hong Kong this year.
Imran Fareeth Mohamed Nazar and Zaid Alam, both from India, and Diego Fernando Triana Ramírez and Juan Pablo Salazar Moreno, both from Columbia, applied for the travel grants from the Dr Dorothy Jordan Lloyd Memorial Trust, which is run by the UK Leather Federation.
They each received £400 to cover their travel expenses to Hong Kong.
On returning to the UK to continue his studies, Diego Triana said: “During my time at APLF, I got to meet a lot of people that are actually working in the leather industry. One of the events I visited was the Leathersellers’ event where I met the vice-chancellor of the university and gained valuable advice from a number of influential and important people in the industry. I helped out on the university’s stand, engaging with businesses and prospective students.”
