CICEG appoints board president
The Footwear Industry Chamber for the State of Guanajuato (CICEG) has appointed a new board of directors, which will be headed by Armando Martín Dueñas in the 2009 term. In spite of his young age, Mr Dueñas has held a qualified role as an academic, a professional, a businessman and a politician for many years.
In his speech he said: "There is no doubt that in 2008 we had to face great challenges. We, as shoe manufacturers, had to face an aggressive global business scenario and get used to the temporary mechanism imposed by our country to Chinese products which will be in force until 2011. Because of these challenges, we have decided to double our efforts. If in good times competitiveness supports our success, in bad times competitiveness must be the main pillar of our survival.
“In order to compete under equal conditions in the global market, we must speed up our pace. We became acquainted with the development and implementation of competitiveness programmes and worked hard to set up the Prospecta Innovation and Competitiveness Centre, which became a reality thanks to the support from the Federal Government Economy Secretariat and the State Government Sustainable Economic Development Secretariat. Prospecta is a strategic link promoter specialised in information, innovation and competitiveness applied to the footwear sector for the detection of opportunities that can generate competitive advantages for the industry.”
