At a recent ceremony in Brazil, Jesus Brasileiro was pronounced the winner of the Edward Weiss Memorial Award. This award is given annually by specialty chemicals company Buckman in recognition of individual excellence in the fields of research, applications technology, marketing, or technical support and sales.

Mr Brasileiro has been a Buckman employee for more than 20 years and is well known and respected in the Brazilian leather industry for his expertise in the beamhouse and tanyard process area. He travels extensively, providing technical support to large tanneries, and has earned the respect of his peers in the industry for his team contributions and willingness to help. His individual efforts have resulted in sales records, and his positive approach is an inspiration to his colleagues.

The award is named after Ed Weiss, a young graduate of the Tanner’s Council Leather School in Cincinnati, USA. Mr Weiss was hired by Stanley Buckman to take microbicide products into the leather industry in the US and to help solve some of the problems experienced by tanners. He ended up working on the project for 42 years. As a result, Busan 30L would became widely recognised and leather became a core business segment for the company.
