According to specialty chemicals producer Clariant, appearance is the most important aspect of leather. However, feel comes  close second.

The company has launched three new feel additives that can be used for a wide range of leathers from elegant nappa leathers to high-tech automotive leathers.

Melio WF-5221 can be used to achieve a velvet-like feel. According to Clariant, it offers a warm, smooth handle with a natural sliding feel.

Meanwhile, Melio WF-5238 is a high-performance, silicone-based feel additive for high-tech leathers, such as leather for white sports shoes or automotive and aftermarket leathers. It offers high abrasion resistance.

Finally, Melio WF-5243 provides a wet-touch feel for a wide variety of leathers.
