Job cuts ahead at Ecco
According to reports, Danish shoe manufacturer Ecco has announced it will reduce its global production workforce by as many as 1,150.
Jobs affected will mainly be those based at the company’s production plants in Slovakia and China. It seems that its employees in Denmark, of whom there are around 565, will not be affected by the cuts. The company currently employs approximately 15,000 across the globe.
A company spokesperson reportedly said, unsurprisingly, that the global credit crunch and a marked decline in footwear sales were the reasons behind the decision.
