New incentives for Bangladeshi exporters

08/04/2009

The Bangladesh government is to devise a new incentive package for the export sectors that have been hardest hit by the global economic downturn. According to reports, these new measures should come into effect within a month.

This announcement was made following a weekend meeting between the country’s finance minister, Mr Muhith, and a number of finished leather exporters and tanners, who have been badly affected by the financial crisis. They urged the government to introduce cash incentives and to reduce interest rates on bank loans.
