Saxon ships luxury furniture to Iraq
UK-based Saxon Leather Upholstery has supplied 50 pieces of luxury furniture to a newly refurbished hotel in Iraq, the Al Najaf International Hotel. Not only has the hotel ordered items from its traditional Chesterfield-style range, it has also requested that photographs showing the furniture being manufactured are supplied so they can be displayed in the reception area.
Saxon, best known for its handmade, customised furniture, has become popular with a number of celebrities and sports people in the UK in recent years. It has also kitted out a palace in Malaysia with its special leather suites. Approximately 10% of the company’s production is custom-made.
Saxon was established in 1982 with just six employers. It now employs 40 manufacturers and 20 other staff. Visitors to the site can see the furniture being made.
