Huge drop in Uruguay’s leather exports

Uruguay’s exporters’ association, the UEU, has reported that the country’s first-quarter exports for 2009 are down by 15.5% compared to the same period last year.
However, the figures for the leather sector are much worse. Total exports of hides and finished leather for the three-month period fell by 54.7%.
