Job cuts at Wollsdorf Leder

Austria-based Wollsdorf Leather is to lay off 76 of its 720 employees at its units in Wollsdorf and Weiz as a direct result of the global downturn, which has had a particularly heavy impact on the car industry.

Reports indicate that a further 51 highly-qualified workers, who will be rehired once business picks up.
The company closed its plant in Wilhelmsburg, Lower Austria, in January laying off 58 workers, and reducing the hours of all other employees into part-time work.
