Swarovski has new way of working with leather

Austrian crystal brand Swarovski is celebrating the success of work it has carried out into new ways to allow designers to use its products with leather.
Gerog Nussdorfer, the company’s vice-president for Asia, said at the opening press conference for the APLF event in Hong Kong in March 31 that he was attending the leather industry event to launch Swarovski Crystallized, the latest line the brand has brought to market.
He also said: “I’m also here because of leather. Leather is a beautiful, gracious and precious material, but it has been difficult for us to work with, to apply crystals to the leather. Until recently, we could guarantee that traditional methods of applying the crystals to leather using adhesive would meet our quality standards. This has been a concern, particularly with smooth leather.”
He said Swarovski’s new techn ique centred on new methods of stitching crystals onto pre-punched leather.
