APLF celebrates anniversary

31/03/2009

The APLF exhibition in Hong Kong started on March 31. The 2009 event is the twenty-fifth anniversary of the launch of the annual leather industry exhibition in Hong Kong.

At the inaugural press conference, APLF director Michael Duck said: “The increasing demand for exhibition space is an indicator that businesses find exhibitions the most important marketing tool there is. There is a need for face-to-face contact with potential customers and suppliers, as well as for that great lubricant of business, gossip.”

Mr Duck said there were signs, even on the first morning of the event, of an industry that is “alive and vibrant”, even though the current challenging conditions are, in his opinion, likely to continue for a year or 18 months.

He said he would not attempt to forecast what the next 25 years might hold, but assured the leather industry that “however much things may have altered”, APLF would be there to offer a platform for helping the leather industry move forward.
