The University of Northampton has announced the death of Richard Graves, a prominent member of the academic staff of the British School of Leather Technology (BSLT).

In a statement, the university said: “It was with great sadness that we learned of Richard’s death on 18 March 2009. Richard joined the British School of Leather Technology in 1980, having studied at the National Leathersellers College and worked at Garston Tanning Company and R B Sanders and Co.

“Richard contributed significantly to the internationalisation of BSLT throughout 1980s and 1990s, and this remains a key platform for the development of the school. He retained a wide network of colleagues and friends across the world, from his work as both educator and consultant, by whom he will be greatly missed.”
