Leather a highlight for Arezzo

In an otherwise difficult year, the leather industry gave a boost to the economy of the Tuscan province of Arezzo, showing an increase in production of 8.4% and growth in value of 13.5%.
This does not include footwear, the figures for which showed a downturn of 5.9%.
In fact most businesses in the province with a link to the fashion sector showed negative results for 2008, making leather a genuine exception.
