ALCA convention announcement

The American Leather Chemists Association (ALCA) will hold its annual meeting from June 18–21 at the Oglebay Resort and Conference Center in Wheeling, West Virginia.
The full technical programme will begin with the Wilson Memorial Lecture on Friday morning, June 19, and continue on Saturday, 20 with approximately 20 lectures.
This year’s Wilson Lecturer will be Eleanor M. Brown, Ph.D. Dr Brown is a research chemist and lead scientist for the Fats, Oils and Animal Coproducts Research Unit of the Eastern Regional Research Centre of the US Department of Agriculture in Wyndmoor, Pennsylvania. The title of her presentation will be ‘Collagen a Natural Scaffold for Biology and Engineering’.
This year’s technical programme offers a wide variety of leather technologies covering tanning to finishing and environmental issues. There will be an array of international presenters from around the world.
There will also be opportunities for social interaction and fun activities beginning with an opening reception and dinner on Thursday, June 18. A shotgun golf tournament will be held prior to the reception beginning at 1.00 pm. The annual Fun Run will commence at 5.00 pm on Friday, June 19, followed at 7 pm by a reception and dinner in the Glessner Ballroom. The Annual Awards Banquet will be held on Saturday evening.
