Vietnam’s leather exports down

Out of total Vietnamese exports of $3.8 billion in January 2009, the share of the leather footwear and leathergoods sector stood at $410 million compared to $460 million in January 2008.

This means the value of leather sector exports declined by 10.9%, according to data released by the General Statistics Office of Vietnam.

The breakdown showed that Vietnam exported leather footwear worth $350 million and leather products worth $60 million in January 2009 compared to $ 400 million and $60 million in the previous year.
