Alda to take unusual briefcase idea to Japan
11/03/2009
Peruvian leathergoods brand Alda believes an unusual product that is exciting interest in Japan can help it grow its sales by 10% this year.
The product in question is the Porta Pisco attaché case, a leather briefcase, similar in look to a musical instrument case, into which you can fit a bottle of Peru's national drink, pisco, on one side and two attractive pisco glasses on the other.
In Alda's home market, the special briefcase usually sells for around $230.
The company has already held a series of meetings with Japanese importers and is confident that orders will follow. Milan-trained Alda designer, and daughter of the company's founders, Viviana Andrade Botteri, said recently to media in Peru: "The Japanese importers have been very pleasantly surprised by the quality of our products, especially the Porta Pisco case. We're proud to be able to offer a handsome briefcase in which to carry our national drink."
