Hides and Skins: Net sales of 778,100 pieces were up 90 percent from the previous week and 72 percent from the prior four-week average. Whole cattle hide sales of 766,600 pieces were primarily for China (265,900 pieces), South Korea (240,000 pieces), Taiwan (84,600 pieces), Thailand (75,700 pieces) and Mexico (39,000 pieces). Whole cattle hide sales of 7,700 pieces for delivery in 2009 were for Taiwan. Exports of 389,100 pieces, all whole cattle hides, were up 22 percent from the previous week, but down 24 percent from the prior four-week average. The primary destinations were China (177,200 pieces), South Korea (102,600 pieces), Taiwan (44,900 pieces), Hong Kong (30,500 pieces) and Japan (18,600 pieces). 

Net sales of 344,900 wet blues were much improved from the previous week and from the prior four-week average. Increases were mainly for Hong Kong (165,000 unsplit), Italy (122,200 unsplit), China (38,900 unsplit), Taiwan (8,000 unsplit) and Mexico (5,400 grain splits and 1,000 unsplit). Exports of 75,700 hides were up 12 percent from the previous week and 23 percent from the prior four-week average. The primary destinations were China (20,600 unsplit and 5,000 grain splits), Taiwan (13,000 unsplit), Hong Kong (12,800 unsplit) and Mexico (11,900 grain splits). Net sales reductions of splits totalling 47,400 pounds were for the Dominican Republic (42,900 pounds), Hong Kong (3,800 pounds) and China (700 pounds). Exports of 365,500 pounds were down 23 percent from the previous week and 28 percent from the prior four-week average. The destinations were Hong Kong (278,200 pounds) and China (87,300 pounds).
