US Perspective—21.10.08

21/10/2008
North American pricing has definitely softened this week with the big packers lowering their asking prices to accommodate the decrease in demand. The slaughter has curtailed this week and this could be a result of lower livestock prices coupled with lower feed prices. Levels will continue to fall until a solid floor is established and it is still very difficult to determine when this will happen. Retail and wholesale prices dropped this week and many people are feeling pessimistic about the holiday season this year.
