US export sales for week ending 20/12/2007
Hides and Skins: Net sales of 134,200 pieces, all whole cattle hides, were 68 per cent below the previous week and the prior 4-week average. The primary buyers were China (74,500 pieces), Taiwan (15,000 pieces), South Korea (11,700 pieces), and Italy (8,400 pieces). Whole cattle hide sales of 225,500 pieces for delivery in 2008 were primarily for China (116,700 pieces), South Korea (49,200 pieces), and Taiwan (46,000 pieces). Exports of 391,600 pieces were down 24 per cent from the previous week and 20 per cent from the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide exports of 385,100 pieces were primarily to China (176,300 pieces), South Korea (124,700 pieces), Taiwan (23,600 pieces), Japan (18,800 pieces), and Mexico (14,200 pieces).
Net sales of 14,500 wet blues were down 80 per cent from the previous week and 86 per cent from the prior 4-week average. Increases were mainly for the Dominican Republic (7,600 grain splits), Mexico (6,500 grain splits), and Hong Kong (1,300 unsplit). Net sales of 76,800 wet blues for delivery in 2008 were primarily for China (49,600 unsplit and 1,300 grain splits), Hong Kong (14,200 unsplit and 1,300 grain splits), and the Dominican Republic (4,900 grain splits and 1,600 unsplit). Exports of 130,400 wet blues were down 18 per cent from the previous week and 10 per cent from the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were China (43,100 unsplit), Italy (28,000 unsplit and 3,600 grain splits), Taiwan (16,600 unsplit), and the Dominican Republic (12,500 grain splits and 3,200 unsplit). Net sales reductions of splits totalling 156,800 pounds were for Hong Kong (150,300 pounds) and China (6,500 pounds).
Net sales of splits totalling 3,250,000 pounds for delivery in 2008 were for Taiwan (2,000,000 pounds) and Hong Kong (1,250,000 pounds). Exports of splits totalling 855,200 pounds were up 7 per cent from the previous week and 1 per cent from the prior 4-week average. The destinations were Hong Kong (451,700 pounds), China (213,500 pounds), Taiwan (100,000 pounds), and Italy (90,000 pounds).
