Monthly estimates of the number of cattle, sheep and pigs slaughtered for meat in the United Kingdom are given in the table below. They are shown in statistical months.

Cattle slaughterings up 5.2% in October
The number of cattle slaughtered in October 2007 was 5.2% higher than in October
2006.
A comparison of October 2007 and 2006 figures shows that:
- Sheep slaughterings increased by 10.5%.
- Pig slaughterings increased by 1.4%.
The number of cattle slaughterings in January-October 2007 was 0.1% lower than the corresponding 2006 figure. Over the same period there was a decrease of 5.4% in sheep slaughterings and a decrease of 1.0% in pig slaughterings. Between the periods January to July 2006 and 2007, Germany and Italy recorded decreases in cattle slaughterings of 2.0% and 0.8% respectively. France and United Kingdom recorded increases of 0.4% and 3.8%.
