Hides and Skins: Net sales of 349,500 pieces were down 5 per cent from the previous week and 31 per cent from the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide sales of 339,500 pieces were primarily for China (138,100 pieces), South Korea (92,100 pieces), Mexico (37,200 pieces), and Taiwan (27,600 pieces). Whole cattle hide sales of 55,300 pieces for delivery in 2008 were primarily for South Korea (35,000 pieces), Vietnam (7,800 pieces), and China (4,800 pieces).  Exports of 492,600 pieces were up 2 per cent from the previous week, but down 4 per cent from the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide exports of 485,700 pieces were primarily to China (230,300 pieces), South Korea (109,400 pieces), Mexico (37,000 pieces), Taiwan (29,000 pieces), and Japan (28,100 pieces). 

Net sales of 98,000 wet blues were down 43 per cent from the previous week and 62 per cent from the prior 4-week average. Increases were mainly for China (24,100 unsplit and 400 grain splits), Mexico (16,700 grain splits and 3,600 unsplit), Italy (19,500 unsplit), and Vietnam (16,000 unsplit). Exports of 146,100 hides were down 6 per cent from the previous week, but up 9 per cent from the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were Italy (32,100 unsplit), China (29,600 unsplit), Mexico (17,100 grain splits and 2,600 unsplit), and Hong Kong (17,600 unsplit). 
Net sales of splits totalling 80,800 pounds resulted as increases for Hong Kong (92,500 pounds) were partially offset by decreases for China (7,200 pounds) and South Korea (4,500 pounds). Net sales of splits totalling 200,000 pounds for delivery in 2008 were for Hong Kong. Exports of splits totalling 884,800 pounds were up 65 per cent from the previous week and 5 per cent from the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were Taiwan (300,000 pounds), China (256,800 pounds), and Hong Kong (242,500 pounds).
