Hides and Skins: Net sales of 434,600 pieces were down 25 per cent from the previous week and 18 per cent from the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide sales of 429,700 pieces were primarily for China (150,000 pieces), South Korea (149,900 pieces), Mexico (40,000 pieces), and Taiwan (26,400 pieces). Whole cattle hide sales of 24,200 for delivery in 2008 were for Taiwan (15,600 pieces), Canada (6,800 pieces), and South Korea (1,800 pieces).  Exports of 488,100 pieces were down 10 per cent from the previous week and 4 per cent from the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide exports of 485,200 pieces were primarily to China (246,900 pieces), South Korea (115,800 pieces), Mexico (33,900 pieces), Hong Kong (22,200 pieces), and Taiwan (19,700 pieces). 

Net sales of 130,900 wet blues were up 52 per cent from the previous week, but down 40 per cent from the prior 4-week average. Increases were mainly for Italy (36,700 unsplit), Mexico (24,300 grain splits and 3,500 unsplit), Thailand (21,900 unsplit), Taiwan (15,500 unsplit), and China (12,400 unsplit). Exports of 134,100 hides were up 6 per cent from the previous week and the prior 4-week average.  The primary destinations were China (32,200 unsplit), Italy (29,600 unsplit and 1,800 grain splits), Mexico (20,300 grain splits and 6,000 unsplit), and the Dominican Republic (11,000 grain splits and 1,600 unsplit). 

Net sales of splits totalling 838,300 pounds resulted as increases for South Korea (720,000 pounds) and Hong Kong (235,700 pounds) were partially offset by decreases for China (115,000 pounds) and Italy (2,300 pounds). Net sales of 200,000 pounds for delivery in 2008 were for Hong Kong. Exports of splits totalling 896,300 pounds were down 16 per cent from the previous week, but up 17 per cent from the prior 4-week average. The destinations were Italy (355,700 pounds), Hong Kong (279,700 pounds), and China (261,000 pounds).
