US export sales for week ending 12/07/2007
Hides and Skins: Net sales of 780,900 pieces were up 57 per cent from the week earlier and the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide sales of 775,300 pieces were primarily to China (315,200 pieces), South Korea (141,300 pieces), Taiwan (84,200 pieces), Japan (77,000 pieces) and Hong Kong (53,200 pieces).
Exports of 520,900 pieces—all whole cattle hides—were up 1 per cent from the week earlier and 4 per cent from the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were China (296,300 pieces), South Korea (85,600 pieces), Taiwan (49,300 pieces), Japan (26,400 pieces), Hong Kong (22,000 pieces) and Mexico (21,300 pieces).
Exports of 109,400 hides were up 23 per cent from the previous week, but down 7 per cent from the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were China (31,400 unsplit and 900 grain splits), Mexico (17,700 grain splits and 7,800 unsplit), the Dominican Republic (14,400 grain splits and 1,100 unsplit), Italy (9,600 unsplit) and South Korea (9,300 unsplit). Net sales of splits totalling 1,060,800 pounds were primarily to China (791,900 pounds) and South Korea (176,000 pounds). Exports of splits totalling 311,400 pounds—a marketing year low—were down 47 per cent from previous week and 70 per cent from the prior 4-week average. The destinations were Hong Kong (180,900 pounds) and China (130,500 pounds).
