US export sales for week ending 05/07/2007
Hides and Skins: Net sales of 497,000 pieces were up 7 per cent from the week earlier and 1 per cent from the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide sales of 493,800 pieces were primarily to China (289,600 pieces), South Korea (61,100 pieces), Mexico (37,700 pieces), Hong Kong (28,900 pieces) and Thailand (22,000 pieces). Exports of 515,800 pieces were down 18 per cent from the week earlier, but up 3 per cent from the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide exports of 506,900 pieces were primarily to China (250,800 pieces), South Korea (89,800 pieces), Taiwan (53,800 pieces), Hong Kong (26,200 pieces) and Japan (22,800 pieces).
Net sales of 90,500 wet blues were down 15 per cent from the previous week and 32 per cent from the prior 4-week average. Increases were reported for Indonesia (23,900 unsplit), Mexico (14,300 grain splits and 4,000 unsplit), China (16,400 unsplit) and the Dominican Republic (14,400 grain splits). Exports of 88,900 hides were down 23 per cent from the previous week and 32 per cent from the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were Mexico (21,000 grain splits and 7,800 unsplit), China (26,700 unsplit), Italy (12,600 unsplit) and Hong Kong (4,500 unsplit and 1,800 grain splits). Net sales of splits totalling 1,030,200 pounds resulted as increases for Hong Kong (1,046,600 pounds) were partially offset by decreases for China (11,200 pounds) and South Korea (5,100 pounds). Exports of splits totalling 592,200 pounds were down 66 per cent from the previous week and 53 per cent from the prior 4-week average. The destinations were China (276,800 pounds), South Korea (174,900 pounds) and Hong Kong (140,600 pounds).
