The number of cattle slaughtered in May 2007 was 1.1% lower than in May 2006.
A comparison of May 2007 and 2006 figures showed that:
- Sheep slaughterings decreased by 7.2%.
- Pig slaughterings decreased by 2.1%.
The number of cattle slaughterings in January-May 2007 was 1.8% higher than the corresponding 2006 figure. Over the same period there was a decrease of 10.9% in sheep slaughterings and an increase of 2.4% in pig slaughterings.
