US export sales for week ending 07/06/2007
Hides and Skins: Net sales of 481,900 pieces were up 12 per cent from the week earlier, but down 18 per cent and from the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide sales of 481,000 pieces were primarily to China (209,600 pieces), South Korea (101,200 pieces), Thailand (39,500 pieces), Taiwan (37,500 pieces) and Mexico (36,900 pieces). Exports of 511,100 pieces were 14 per cent below the week earlier and 17 per cent under the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide exports of 501,300 pieces were primarily to China (213,800 pieces), South Korea (96,500 pieces), Taiwan (78,100 pieces) and Mexico (31,200 pieces).
Net sales of 151,000 wet blues were up 11 per cent from the previous week and 35 per cent above the prior 4-week average. Increases were reported for China (64,900 unsplit), the Dominican Republic (17,600 unsplit and 9,800 grain splits), Mexico (21,800 grain splits) and Hong Kong (16,200 unsplit). Exports of 143,300 hides were up 12 per cent from the previous week and 1 per cent from the prior 4-week average.
The primary destinations were China (40,800 unsplit), Mexico (28,900 grain splits), Italy (23,000 unsplits), Hong Kong (17,400 unsplit) and the Dominican Republic (9,800 grain splits and 7,000 unsplit). Net sales of splits totalling 1,640,200 pounds resulted as increases for Hong Kong (988,700 pounds), South Korea (360,000 pounds) and China (300,700 pounds), were partially offset by decreases for Italy (9,200 pounds). Exports of splits totalling 1,478,600 pounds were up 51 per cent from the previous week and 31 per cent from the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were Hong Kong (538,700 pounds), China (459,100 pounds) and Italy (430,800 pounds). Note: accumulated exports for South Korea were adjusted down 225,000 pieces of whole cattle hides and up 225,000 pounds for wet blue splits.
