US export sales for week ending 31/05/2007
Hides and Skins: Net sales of 432,100 pieces were down 29 per cent from the week earlier and the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide sales of 339,300 pieces were primarily to China (192,200 pieces), South Korea (49,000 pieces), Taiwan (31,900 pieces), Mexico (23,000 pieces) and Japan (13,400 pieces). Exports of 590,900 pieces were up 25 per cent from the week earlier, but unchanged from the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide exports of 492,700 pieces were primarily to China (230,900 pieces), South Korea (77,600 pieces), Taiwan (56,600 pieces), Mexico (33,300 pieces) and Hong Kong (30,200 pieces).
Net sales of 136,600 wet blues were two and two-fifths times the previous week and 42 per cent above the prior 4-week average. Increases were reported for Italy (34,400 unsplit), Mexico (23,100 grain splits), Hong Kong (15,700 unsplit), Germany (10,400 grain splits) and South Korea (10,300 unsplit). Exports of 127,700 hides were down 20 per cent from the previous week and 12 per cent from the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were Hong Kong (27,500 unsplit), Italy (25,600 unsplit), Mexico (19,000 grain splits and 1,000 unsplit) and China (16,500 unsplit). Net sales of splits totalling 482,900 pounds resulted as increases for Hong Kong (329,900 pounds) and China (155,300 pounds), were partially offset by decreases for South Korea (2,300 pounds). Exports of splits totalling 979,900 pounds were up 21 per cent from the previous week, but down 15 per cent from the prior 4-week average. The destinations were Hong Kong (429,900 pounds), China (329,300 pounds), Italy (135,000 pounds) and South Korea (85,700 pounds).
