Cattle slaughterings up 7.3% in April
The number of cattle slaughtered in April 2007 was 7.3% higher than in April
2006.
A comparison of April 2007 and 2006 figures shows that:
- Sheep slaughterings decreased 4.1%.
- Pig slaughterings decreased by 0.4%.
The number of cattle slaughterings in January-April 2007 was 2.6% higher than the corresponding 2006 figure. Over the same period there was a decrease of 11.3% in sheep slaughterings and an increase of 3.6% in pig slaughterings.
EU-25 cattle slaughtering figures between the periods January to December 2005 and 2006 decreased by 0.7%.
