US export sales for week ending 23/05/2007
Hides and Skins: Net sales of 471,600 pieces were down 47 per cent from the week earlier and 29 per cent from the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide sales of 445,000 pieces were primarily to China (223,400 pieces), Taiwan (76,200 pieces), South Korea (43,800 pieces), Mexico (40,200 pieces) and Japan (31,500 pieces). Exports of 461,000 pieces were 53 per cent below the week earlier and 28 per cent under the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide exports of 436,100 pieces were primarily to China (237,400 pieces), South Korea (61,800 pieces), Taiwan (44,400 pieces), Japan (26,900 pieces) and Mexico (22,500 pieces).
Net sales of 143,100 wet blues were up 28 per cent from the previous week, but down 17 per cent from the prior 4-week average. Increases were reported for China (57,300 unsplit), the Dominican Republic (16,000 unsplit and 10,000 grain splits), Hong Kong (15,500 unsplit), Mexico (15,000 grain splits) and South Korea (13,200 unsplit). Exports of 148,900 hides were up 13 per cent from the previous week and 8 per cent from the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were China (41,900 unsplit and 7,200 grain splits), Italy (32,000 unsplit), Mexico (20,100 grain splits,and 2,200 unsplit) and Taiwan (10,500 unsplit and 2,800 grain splits). Net sales of splits totalling 1,846,500 pounds were mainly for China (907,800 pounds), Hong Kong (668,400 pounds) and South Korea (225,000 pounds). Exports of splits totalling 1,605,100 pounds were up 51 per cent from the previous week and 15 per cent above the prior 4-week average. The destinations were Hong Kong (850,400 pounds), South Korea (360,000 pounds), Italy (218,800 pounds) and China (175,800 pounds).
