Cattle slaughterings down 9.4% in March
The number of cattle slaughtered in March 2007 was 9.4% lower than in March
2006.
A comparison of March 2007 and 2006 figures showed that:
- Sheep slaughterings decreased by 12.4%.
- Pig slaughterings increased by 4.1%.
The number of cattle slaughterings in January-March 2007 was 1.5% higher than the corresponding 2006 figure. Over the same period there was a decrease of 13.4% in sheep slaughterings and an increase of 4.8% in pig slaughterings.
EU-25 pig slaughtering figures between the periods January to December 2005 and 2006 increased 1.5%.
