US export sales for week ending 03/05/2007
Hides and Skins: Net sales of 453,400 pieces—all whole cattle hides—were down 51 per cent from the week earlier and 16 per cent from the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide sales were primarily to China (276,400 pieces), South Korea (61,400 pieces), Mexico (39,000 pieces), Taiwan (25,000 pieces) and Hong Kong (24,800 pieces). Exports of 441,800 pieces were down 27 per cent from the previous week and 15 per cent from the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide exports of 433,900 pieces were primarily to China (179,800 pieces), South Korea (96,700 pieces), Taiwan (43,000 pieces) and Mexico (23,700 pieces).
Net sales of 72,500 wet blues were down 79 per cent from the previous week and 57 per cent from the prior 4-week average. Increases were reported for Mexico (15,500 grain splits and 6,100 unsplit), the Dominican Republic (12,900 grain splits and 3,400 unsplit), China (10,000 unsplit) and South Korea (10,000 unsplit). Exports of 138,300 hides were up slightly from the previous week, but down 2 per cent from the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were China (52,300 unsplit and 1,800 grain splits), Mexico (19,800 grain splits and 1,900 unsplit), Italy (17,800 unsplit), Hong Kong (10,000 unsplit and 3,600 grain splits) and the Dominican Republic (10,000 grain splits). Net sales of splits totalling 917,600 pounds were mostly for Hong Kong (831,000 pounds), Mexico (46,200 pounds) and China (44,600 pounds). Exports of splits totalling 1,116,400 pounds were down 28 per cent from the previous week and 22 per cent from the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were Hong Kong (621,000 pounds), Italy (177,100 pounds), Indonesia (94,400 pounds) and South Korea (92,300 pounds).
