US export sales for week ending 12/04/2007
Hides and Skins: Net sales of 447,800 pieces were up 12 per cent from the week earlier and 25 per cent above the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide sales of 435,800 pieces were primarily to China (198,700 pieces), Taiwan (78,300 pieces), South Korea (69,600 pieces), Japan (24,400 pieces) and Mexico (21,800 pieces). Exports of 567,800 pieces were up 45 per cent from the previous week and 18 per cent above the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide exports of 559,800 pieces were primarily to China (252,200 pieces), South Korea (158,900 pieces), Taiwan (48,900 pieces) and Mexico (19,600 pieces).
Net sales of 49,900 wet blues were down 59 per cent from the previous week and 60 per cent below the prior 4-week average. Increases were reported for Mexico (21,800 grain splits), China (14,600 unsplit), the Dominican Republic (4,200 grain splits and 2,900 unsplit) and Taiwan (5,600 unsplit). Exports of 160,700 hides were up 31 per cent from the previous week and 17 per cent above the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were China (39,300 unsplit and 5,300 grain splits), Italy (30,300 unsplit and 5,600 grain splits), Mexico (22,300 grain splits and 1,000 unsplit), Hong Kong (20,300 unsplit) and the Dominican Republic (11,200 grain splits and 2,600 unsplit). Net sales of splits totalling 1,071,300 pounds were for Hong Kong (991,500 pounds) and South Korea (88,000 pounds), but were partially offset by decreases for China (7,500 pounds). Exports of splits totalling 632,300 pounds were down 63 per cent from the previous week and 51 per cent below the prior 4-week average. The destinations were Hong Kong (361,500 pounds), Italy (135,000 pounds), China (92,500 pounds) and Mexico (43,400 pounds).
