Cattle slaughterings up 4.5% in February
The number of cattle slaughtered in February 2007 was 4.5% higher than in
February 2006. See Table.
A comparison of February 2007 and 2006 figures shows that:
- Sheep slaughterings decreased by 14.1%.
- Pig slaughterings increased by 8.2%.

The number of cattle slaughterings in January-February 2007 was 7.9% higher than the corresponding 2006 figure. Over the same period there was a decrease of 13.3% in sheep slaughterings and an increase of 5.1% in pig slaughterings.
EU-25 sheep slaughtering figures between the periods January to December 2005 and 2006 decreased 4.6%.
