US export sales for week ending 15/03/2007
Hides and Skins: Net sales of 359,400 pieces were down 22 per cent from the week earlier and 14 per cent below the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide sales of 352,300 pieces were primarily to China (139,100 pieces), South Korea (84,100 pieces), Taiwan (56,800 pieces), Vietnam (22,500 pieces) and Mexico (19,200 pieces). Exports of 450,800 pieces were up slightly from the previous week, but down 14 per cent from the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide exports of 448,400 pieces were primarily to South Korea (179,000 pieces), China (135,100 pieces), Taiwan (35,600 pieces) and Japan (30,500 pieces).
Net sales of 135,600 wet blues were up 13 per cent from the previous week and 11 per cent above the prior 4-week average. Increases were reported for China (41,500 unsplit and 5,800 grain splits), the Dominican Republic (22,900 grain splits and 3,000 unsplit), Mexico (20,200 grain splits and 2,500 unsplit) and Germany (10,800 grain splits). Exports of 155,600 hides were down 24 per cent from the previous week and 5 per cent below the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were China (49,000 unsplit and 1,800 grain splits), Mexico (25,600 grain splits and 1,900 unsplit), Italy (24,000 unsplit), Hong Kong (12,300 unsplit and 1,800 grain splits) and Indonesia (6,500 unsplit). Net sales of splits totalling 3,084,400 pounds were primarily for Hong Kong (1,441,700 pounds) and China (1,206,000 pounds). Exports of splits totalling 1,105,200 pounds were down slightly from the week earlier and 4 per cent below the prior 4-week average. The destinations were Hong Kong (630,500 pounds), Italy (431,300 pounds) and South Korea (43,500 pounds).
