US export sales for week ending 01/03/2007
Hides and Skins: Net sales of 345,400 pieces were up 12 per cent from the week earlier, but down 11 per cent from the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide sales of 328,600 pieces were primarily to South Korea (118,500 pieces), China (89,400 pieces), Taiwan (30,000 pieces), Thailand (28,500 pieces) and Japan (17,300 pieces). Exports of 568,600 pieces were 3 per cent below the previous week, but 18 per cent over the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide exports of 562,600 pieces were primarily to China (259,500 pieces), South Korea (142,000 pieces) and Taiwan (67,100 pieces).
Net sales of 62,500 wet blues were 45 per cent below the previous week and 61 per cent under the prior 4-week average. Increases were reported for Mexico (27,400 grain splits and 4,000 unsplit), China (21,000 unsplit and 7,400 grain splits) and Thailand (9,300 unsplit). Exports of 95,200 hides were 44 per cent below the previous week and 38 per cent under the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were China (46,100 unsplit and 8,500 grain splits), Mexico (25,100 grain splits and 1,000 unsplit), Thailand (6,600 unsplit), Hong Kong (2,800 unsplit) and Indonesia (1,800 unsplit). Net sales of splits totalling 87,700 pounds were primarily for Hong Kong (48,900 pounds) and Mexico (45,200 pounds). Exports of splits totalling 1,135,100 pounds were down 34 per cent from the week earlier, but up 12 per cent from the prior 4-week average. The major destinations were South Korea (565,000 pounds), Italy (218,300 pounds) and Hong Kong (180,900 pounds).
