US export sales for week ending 22/02/2007
Hides and Skins: Net sales of 308,800 pieces were down 45 per cent from the week earlier and 28 per cent below the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide sales of 301,200 pieces were primarily to China (67,200 pieces), South Korea (52,700 pieces), Taiwan (49,300 pieces), Japan (42,500 pieces) and Thailand (38,200 pieces). Exports of 586,400 pieces were 17 per cent above the previous week and 39 per cent over the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide exports of 569,200 pieces were primarily to China (261,300 pieces), South Korea (117,700 pieces) and Taiwan (83,300 pieces).
Net sales of 113,900 wet blues were 41 per cent below the previous week and 48 per cent under the prior 4-week average. Increases were reported for China (63,800 unsplit and 5,500 grain splits), the Dominican Republic (11,000 grain splits and 9,600 unsplit) and Mexico (15,300 grain splits and 1,900 unsplit). Exports of 169,100 hides were 8 per cent below the previous week, but 9 per cent above the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were China (49,100 unsplit and 7,100 grain splits), Italy (25,600 unsplit), Mexico (15,200 grain splits and 1,800 unsplit), Hong Kong (14,100 unsplit and 1,700 grain splits), Taiwan (11,500 unsplit and 2,400 grain splits) and South Korea (12,500 unsplit and 1,000 grain split). Net sales of splits totalling 726,600 pounds were primarily for Hong Kong (244,300 pounds), Indonesia (195,800 pounds), Mexico (128,000 pounds) and China (122,300 pounds). Exports of splits totalling 1,705,600 pounds improved from the week earlier and were more than double the prior 4-week average. The major destinations were Hong Kong (514,300 pounds), Italy (435,200 pounds) and South Korea (405,000 pounds).
